Sultan Ahmad Shah Golf Club

The Sultan Ahmad Shah Golf Club, also known as Kelab Golf Sultan Ahmad Shah (KGSAS), is a historic golf course nestled in the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia.  It holds the distinction of being the oldest golf course in the country.


The course is a golfer's paradise, offering stunning scenery with lush greenery and fresh mountain air.  Being situated at an elevation of 5,000 feet above sea level, golfers can expect cooler temperatures making for a very enjoyable golfing experience.  The 18-hole par 71 course winds its way through the valley, with some holes offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Beautiful Setting:  The course is surrounded by rolling hills, pine trees, and tea plantations, creating a picturesque backdrop for your game.

Affordable Green Fees:  The Sultan Ahmad Shah Golf Club is known for its reasonable green fees, making it an attractive option for budget-minded golfers.


Walking Course:  Due to the terrain,  carts are not available, making it a walking course.  Many golfers find this adds to the enjoyment of the course and the scenery.  Caddies are available for hire to help you carry your clubs.


Cool Climate:  The Cameron Highlands' cool climate provides a refreshing escape from the hotter lowlands, making it a perfect place to enjoy a round of golf.


Here are some things to consider before playing:


  • Check course availability: There have been mentions of renovations being done at the course. It might be best to contact the club directly to confirm the availability of all 18 holes before your visit.

  • Walking course: Be prepared to walk the course as carts are not available.

  • Dress code: While there is no formal dress code, respectful attire is expected.  Long pants and collared shirts are typically recommended.

CAMERON HIGHLANDS FUN FACTS
  • Cameron Highlands is the largest tea producing region in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The BOH Tea Plantation, established in 1929, is the first highland tea plantation in Malaysia. Visitors can tour the factory and even enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea!

  • The Cameron Highlands boast a unique cloud forest called the Mossy Forest. This 200,000-year-old forest is covered in thick layers of moss, lichen, and ferns, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.

  • The world's largest single bloom flower, the Rafflesia Arnoldi, can be found in the Cameron Highlands. This incredible flower can grow up to 1 meter in diameter and weigh up to 10 kilograms! However, it only blooms for 3 to 5 days, making it a rare sight.
